TB-500THYMOSIN BETA-4, 43AA

10mgCAS 77591-33-4

Full-length, N-acetylated 43-residue thymosin β4 — the principal G-actin-sequestering peptide.

For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary consumption, diagnostic or therapeutic use. Handle in accordance with institutional safety procedures.

Product Overview

Scientific profile

Thymosin β4 (Tβ4) is a highly conserved, 43-amino-acid, N-terminally acetylated peptide present in almost all nucleated cells. It is the major intracellular G-actin-sequestering molecule and regulates the dynamics of actin polymerisation. This product is the full-length 43-residue sequence, not the short LKKTETQ fragment sometimes sold under the same trade name.

Research Background

The central actin-binding domain (LKKTETQ, residues 17–23) mediates interaction with monomeric actin, while the N-terminal tetrapeptide Ac-SDKP is released by prolyl oligopeptidase and has independent biological activity. Tβ4 has been studied extensively in models of cell migration, angiogenesis and tissue repair, including the cardiac-repair work of Bock-Marquette et al. (Nature, 2004).

Areas of Investigation

  • Actin cytoskeleton dynamics and cell motility
  • Endothelial migration and angiogenesis assays
  • Dermal, corneal and cardiac tissue-repair models
  • Anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic signalling

Analytical Profile

Purity by reverse-phase HPLC; molecular identity confirmed by ESI-MS (deconvoluted mass). Supplied as a lyophilized solid.
